The premiere of multimedia show “FULL MOON“ (“POLNOLUNIE”) in Sochi — the project in the context of the International festival — school “TERRITORIYA”.

Under the Aegis of the Cultural Olympiad “Sochi 2014”

On the 9 September 2011 the Winter theatre in Sochi will host the introduction of the new project of the International festival-school “TERRITORIYA” — the multimedia show “FULL MOON“ („POLNOLUNIE”). The show is the result of collaboration between festival's art-direction and musical curator Theodor Currentzis, set up especially for the Cultural Olympiad “Sochi 2014”.

The main idea of the authors' and artists' work is to study how the world could expand and develop and at the same time remain unchanged and hermetical. The “FULL MOON” (“Polnolunie”) is divided in to two parts. Each part is full of mysteries of Universe, complex images and senses.

Featuring in the program are: the multimedia exhibition in the foyer of the Winter theatre and two musical compositions: “Over moons“ (“Nad lunami”) and “Plenilune” (“Polnolunie”), by the composer — Alexey Sysoev and the director — Philipp Grigoryan.

The exhibition in the foyer is a background for musical show, to make people ready for the performance. The exhibition has been purposly designed in relation to the architecture of the building. The multimedia section is the first part of the project and consists of sound and video installations, interactive and live-action performances and art-objects. This is the area of Interdisciplinary art and all kinds of technology and artistic effects.

According to the creators of the projects three floors of the theatre resemble three mirror-worlds which have an effect on each other. All installations are united by one theme; that of exploring the Universe and self-awareness.

Each floor symbolizes the levels of life. The first floor consists of sound and video installations according to the origin of life. The live-action performances and interactive art-objects on the middle floor are full of paradoxical views of existence, of world-organization ideas and scientific questions and interpretations. And the last floor — the highest sphere, full of infinity galaxy sounds, hard comprehensible questions for human nature.

This is a great chance to see the best works of contemporary multimedia art under one roof. The exhibition unites the most impressive artists, musicians and art-groups: “Recycle” (Krasnodar, Russia) and “Blue Soup” group (Moscow, Russia), Vladimir Tarasov (Lithuania), Patrick K.-H. & Oleg Makarov, THE HET, Dmitry Bulnygin, Smakhtin & Khayman & Kasich (Moscow, Russia). The fragments of the show are introduced by the Engineering theatre AKHE (Saint- Petersburg). This performance will see the artists will converging only once — on the 9th September in Sochi.

The second part and the main event of the Olympic program in Sochi, is 'TERRITORIYA" a musical-stage composition in two parts. The composer of the show is Alexey Sysoev and the director is Philipp Grigorian. This is the theatre premiere of the piece “Over moons” (“Nad lunami”) and “Plenilune” (“Polnolunie”), (previously introduced in a concert version) created for female vocals, musical ensemble and electronics. In the piece the visitors could also hear the solo composition “Impro” by the world known figure of sound-art Sachiko M (Japan).

„Over moons” (“Nad lunami”) — libretto by Alexey Sysoev based on the architectural project of George Krutikov “Empyreal city”, 1928. The main sense of Krutikov's project is based on the idea of a dynamic city plan instead of dead static architectural forms. This fantastic theory opens the new way of space organization and also the new form of wide-thinking.

“Plenilune” (“Polnolunie”) is set on a parable where death and birth are the logical continuation of each other. Man is gradually engulfed by nature and time, like the moon, man passes his life cycle and is reborn. This is the logical picture of life — the return to the beginning and the internal rotation.

The organization team consists of young talented persons: Alexey Sysoev is one of the composers of new academic music, Philipp Grigorian in co-authorship with an artist Galya Solodovnikova, who invented the images and costumes, the video picture was made by artist and designer Alexander Lobanov (the member of “Blue Soup” art-group).

The music is played by the “Moscow Ensemble of Contemporary Music” under direction of conductor Fedor Ledniev. The famous membership of improvising musicians and soloists: Natalia Pshenichnikova (vocal), Vladimir Tarasov (percussion), Sachiko M (electronics), improvisation project “ERROR 404” (Alexey Sysoev — electronics, Yuriy Favorin — piano, Dmitriy Schielkin — percussion). The dance solo introduces Taketeru Kudoh, one of the leading choreographers of Japan and world-known successor of dance tradition Butoh. The enactment of “Plenilune” (“Polnolunie”) introduces the “School of Dramatic Art” Theatre's dance group “Before Dance” under the direction of Andrey Andrianov.
