Andrey Uraev graduated in theatre directing from Tambov department of Moscow State Institute of Culture in 1985. After that he was head of army theatre Paradox in Potsdam, East Germany. In 1991 he finished his postgraduate studies in stage movement and dance at the Boris Shchukin Theatre School.
He is a member of Russian Guild of movement directors and teachers.
He worked as movement director (choreographer) in different cities of Russia.
In Berlin, in the Saint Nicholas Church hr directed Romeo and Juliet.
In Moscow he worked as movement director (choreographer) on About Russia with Love (Dyaghilev-Center), George Orwell's Animal Farm (directed by M. Borisov, Boris Shchukin Theatre Institute), A. Pogorelsky's Black Hen (directed by O. Velikanova, Stanislavsky theatre), Carlo Gozzi's Happy Beggars (directed by E. Konyavskaya and Andrey Uraev, Small Children's theatre), Alexander Pushkin's Little Tragedies (directed by E. Konyavskaya and Andrey Uraev, Small Children's theatre), Shakespeare's Hamlet (directed by Peter Stein, International Confederation of Theatre Associations), Mark Ravenhill's Shopping & Fucking (directed by Olga Subbotina, Playwright and Director Centre), Choderlos de Laclos' Dangerous Liaisons (directed by Raija-Sinikka Rantala, Oleg Tabakov's theatre), Alexander Grin's Scarlet Sails (directed by A. Kalashnikov), Byron's Sardanapalus (directed by Mark Rozovsky, Theatre at Nikitsky Gates), Shakespeare's Othello (directed by S. Shantalinsky, Moscow Art Theatre School), Shakespeare's Hamlet (directed by V. Petrov, Moscow Art Theatre School).
Andrey Uraev worked as stunt and stunt coordinator on such movies as Tango with Death (directed by Grigory Gurevich), Mysteries of Kremlin Court of the 16th century (directed by Boris Blank), Master and Margarita (directed by Yuri Kara).
Andrey Uraev works also as translator — he translated into German G. Morozov's dictionary called Actor's body culture.
He often takes part at Russian an international seminars, symposia, conferences and festivals.
Since 1991 he teaches at the Moscow Art Theatre School, since 1997 at the Boris Shchukin Theatre Institute.
Andrey Uraev is the president of Culture fund Egida (Aegis).
